The wooden tripod was built by hunters and fishermen who regularly camp and poach wild game within park boundaries despite (or perhaps without knowledge) that this is technically illegal.

Camping at Halape Beach, a very remote beach 11.3 miles down the Puna Coast Trail in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island. Halape is a turtle nesting sanctuary that is federally protected and very difficult to reach.
