Indonesia a kindergarten in banda aceh which lost many of children to tsunami, been rebuilt. schools director halimah anwar bustam (seen here in foreground) describes horrors suffered: area kids came from completely flattened by waves. On that fateful sunday children were in their homes, or many were already on beach having. So many died that morning. It devastating. South sudan lutaya primary school, constructed and financed by jesuit refugee services since 2005, yei. lesson taking place in one of the classrooms. some classes have over 100 children. most classes do not have desks or seats. children often bring their own stools to sit on

The Muni Seva Ashram in Goraj, near Vadodara, India, is a tranquil haven of humanitarian care. The Ashram is hugely sustainable, next year it will be completely carbon neutral. Its first solar panels were installed in 1984, long before climate change was on anyones agenda. Their energy is provided from solar panels, and wood grown on the estate. Waste food and animal manure is turned inot biogas to run the estates cars and also used for cooking. Solar cookers are also used, and the air conditioning for the hospital is solar run. 70 % of the food used is grown on the estate. They provide an orphanage, schools for all ages, vocational training, care for the elderly, a specialist cancer hospital withstate of the art machinary, and even have a solar crematorium. Vietnam crs (catholic relief service) work with people with disabilities extends into the college system with a project of inclusive education. at the hanoi college of it, shown here, there are 25 students with disabilities and 15 visually impaired. crs provides special mobility equipment such as wheelchair ramps, and with a joint grant shared by other funding agencies, provided an elevator at the college (seen here), so that wheelchair bound students could move easily to other floors of the building
